MTC is Pretty Turnt

Konichiwa! First email back baby!
Sorry if you didn't want to receive this. If you want off the list just let me know. I totally understand.
The MTC is crazy! So many chill dudes (or Elders I guess). The Spirit is strong pretty much anywhere you go. I know I am supposed to be here. The first couple days I couldn't stop smiling. My district is way cool all of us get along. The crazy thing is there isn't a single Shimai (sister) in our district (the class that we learn Japanese and do everything with). I have realized that is a blessing because they knew putting sisters in my district would be trouble ;) My doryo (companion) is pretty chill. We don't fight at all which is what really matters but we are complete opposites. He isn't into sports at all, pretty femi, was in the color guard, quiet, and very obedient (I'm working on it). Obedience is my biggest struggle right now. I try to have exact obedience but don't always do it with the best attitude. Again, working on it.

Don't let me fool you though the MTC is extremely challenging. Japanese is straight up so hard. Yet so rewarding. The schedule is pretty grueling. I just want to sleep sometimes. It's all worth it though. It's building my excitement to go to Japan! We have been teaching a fake investigator in Japanese. His name is Hashimotto. Such a stud. We taught him (in Japanee) the third day we were here. It was so hard not being able to say exactly how I felt or what I wanted to say. Though it didn't matter how hard we struggled as long as I had been working hard the spirit was so strong in the room. Much love for Hashimotto and his family even though it was only a week with him and he wasn't even a real investigator.

Every aspect of my life has changed coming to the MTC. The amount of time I have in my day after giving up TV, Insta, texting, netflix, listening to music, watching sports, facebook, etc is insane!! I would encourage all of you to cut some of those things out to concentrate on your goals. Whatever it is that will help your current and future self. Try it. I didn't, wish I would have. Though to be honest, sometimes I think of some fine tweets that can't be tweeted lolz. It's also really hard not to "flirt" with any of the sisters. Don't worry though I'm focused :)

I am extremely happy that I got to check my emails today and feel the continued support from everyone. Really means more than you guys know. You the real MVP. Also the package from the ward meant a lot. Thanks so much! Some of you have come in clutch with some of the little things I needed. Got to see Sister Madison, Elder Hart (a lot), and Elder Schmitt. Really good to see them. The food is pretty good. Kinda hit and miss. I am eating way too much though. Gotta tone it down. Finna get fat.

Though I am sure it's an answer to my moms prayers... I learned this week that there is no sarcasm in Japan. No idea how I will survive or be funny at all, bout to flop nonstop for the first 6 months..

My companion has had a really rough time. He was getting overwhelmed here and lost his little sister last April. We watched a talk and it talked about a mother who lost her daughter and got into a lot of detail. My doryo was sobbing. I felt so bad. All of the stress and sadness caused him to have extreme stomachache aches. One night he sobbed through the whole night. I didn't know what was wrong at the time and had no idea what to do. I think it's all good now.. He talked to his family and figured it all out. I hate not being able to help someone in that situation. Especially if they don't want to talk about it.

Mission so far has already been one of the hardest and best things in my life. I am so thankful for all of your example, friendship, good times and support.

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I will miss (and already do) the family, atmosphere, friends and presents at home. Though I have an opportunity to have my most giving Christmas here in the mtc. We had a devotional yesterday that said "Missionaries give the greatest gift from the greatest giver" Check out and share this video. http://www.mormon.org/christmas?cid=HPFR112814529

Again let me know if you want off this list. I won't be offended.

I love you all! Make sure and keep me updated with yourself. I'll always email back!

First Email Baby!

Hey everyone! I am just sitting here smiling knowing that I can send an email home. This is mostly just a quick one for family, but if anyone else gets this just know I love you all and you will hear from me again soon. Sounds like we can call home for Christmas so surprise! I will call the home phone sometime from 3:15-5:15! It's the second day out here, and it's pretty awesome. I am way tired right now not going to lie. Yesterday was the longest day ever. Not bad, just long. My Japanese teacher is way cool. He is American but seems just like a little Japanese man. He rarely speaks in English to us. To help us learn.

I don't get a p day this week and I won't get one next week because its Christmas. They are usually on Thursdays. It's ok though because I do get to call home so whatevs. I feel like I have been here for like 4 days. The food is so-so. Definitely depends on what you get. My companion is Tony Ridgby's nephew. We will be companions until I leave the mtc, how crazy is that? We are very different, he's never kissed anyone! lol He is into color guard and doesn't know anything about sports. So not a lot to talk about. He is a great companion though. Doesn't annoy me.

I was given a very limited amount of time to email.. But talk to you guys next week!

Love you guys. It is pretty hard to get used to the schedule, but as long as I'm not too tired I can't stop smiling!! It's a very happy place here.

love,

Elder Spackman
